Not so long ago, at the shower for our second granddaughter, I discovered my love for decorated sugar cookies. Now, I appreciate eating all manner of sweet treats, but I could not stop looking at these baby themed sugar cookies. They were just so stinking adorable! I thought to myself, "I bet I could make those."

I gave sugar cookies a try at a Christmas in July event at our church. They weren't bad for a novice, so I put together some wedding themed cookies for my niece's bridal shower the following month. Looking a little better than the Christmas cookies, they got rave reviews from those in attendance. As my confidence grew, I started making more cookies for family and friends, eventually generating a few orders here and there.

The orders kept coming! Within a few months, my husband and I decided to take a big leap of faith and I left my full time job in the city to become a professional cookier at home. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Each morning I wake up and head to the kitchen, which always smells of butter and sugar, though my husband doesn't seem to mind. It is such a joy to play a small role in the celebrations that are so important to my customers–birthdays, weddings, graduations, anniversaries, retirements and of course, the one that inspired me to start Cookie Conundrum, baby showers.
